What a great weekend. My parents took Friday off of work and came to visit, Kevin, Murphy and me. We spent Friday around the house and then headed to Clara’s in Lansing for dinner. We had a great relaxing dinner and were ready to go home for cards, a movie or chatting when our adventure began! We were waiting to get out of the parking lot when we saw this poor soul who could barely stand stumble to the active railroad tracks and sit down. We realize that he was having a “rough night” so we jumped out of the car to help him. Our new friend, Jacob, is a freshman at MSU, from Chicago. (I could go on and on, thanks for sharing Jacob, but will spare you the details!) After several failed attempts to console and reason with Jacob we cut his losses and decided to drive Jacob home. Two blocks into our car ride he started making ominous noises... to prevent the inevitable in-car vomit we pull over. We finally made it to the dorms and helped his none-to-happy roommate escort Jacob to his 5th floor room. On our walk to his room an innocent bystander observing the fiasco taps me on the shoulder and says, “Dude is that his dad?!” My response, “Dude that’s my dad, we found Jacob sitting on the railroad tracks.”
Jacob you owe us one!
Saturday was more relaxing. We spent our afternoon golfing 18 holes, dinner and watching football! After upgrading to a faster cart, once ours died after 9 holes, Kevin thought he was Dale Earnhardt Jr at the Indianapolis 500 and took a turn at blazing speeds resulting in me and my Snickers bar catapulting out of the golf cart.
Thank you for coming to visit us we had an awesome weekend!
OMG! What a weekend! First that whole Jacob thing, then getting thrown from a golf cart. Are you okay? How did Nonna and Papa do with Murphy? I bet she was happy to see them. Love the pics of your new friend Jacob and the family. :)
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, that's awesome. I think Dad is literally holding that kid's hand?!!!
ReplyDeleteJacob is coming for Thanksgiving along with his roommates, Taylor and Jason!! He also would like you to send the pictures to him --- going to send them out as Christmas cards to family and friends.
ReplyDeleteWhere are our "Stretch photos" I thought you were going to post them!!!
Thanks for a fun weekend -- lots of laughs!
I'm only saying this because I am assuming you were not injured, but I so wish I could have seen you fly out of the golf cart...it sounds pretty hilarious! I'm pretty sure I could of used a "helping hand" from the Voelz family a night or two in my college years;) Looks like Jacob had a few too many! He definitely owes you one:)
