45 To Go

John can now cross Illinois off his list of states to visit. We went this last weekend; with my friend Janelle. John and I drove down Saturday morning, picked Janelle up at the train station and were busy until we left Monday afternoon. We went to my alma mater Elmhurst, a Frank Lloyd Wright tour, shopping on Michigan Avenue, drinks at our hotel with a former colleague of ours who now lives in Chicago, the museum of science and industry, breakfast with friends of Janelle’s, a visit with my brother, as well as many restaurants all with local, yummy food.

Janelle took the train back to Michigan and had several bouts of trouble making a four hour trek eight and a half hours! John and I took the back roads once we made it to Kenosha. I enjoy traveling “the road less traveled” however did get a little anxious when our road turned into a barely paved one with no markers. Our adventure took four and a half hours with no traffic.

We had a great visit with Janelle and hopefully will make this an annual trip.
