My Internship.

Since dating/marring Kevin I have had several jobs; mostly because of our moves. While in Wisconsin I was a first grade teacher - what I went to school for. I loved my job,  flexibility in my classroom, communication with the parents and collaboration with co-workers. When we moved to Michigan I worked at a coffee corporation - my first job there I loved and then took on a job that required daily travel around Michigan - this I did not enjoy so I quit to work at a Montessori school.  I liked being in a school environment but leadership changed and so did my job... I left to nanny part time. We then moved to Colorado and while I applied to several teaching jobs had little hope with our stay only a year so I took another nanny job or now that I am pregnant “my internship.” This is what I have learned as I prepare to be a stay at home mom:

  • have the shorter child sit behind you in the car... less kicking the back of your seat
  • children can entertain themselves for some part of the day
  • adult interaction helps with boredom
  • a trip to Target or Whole Foods can make your day “eventful”
  • a “me hobby” is important
  • children say funny things
  • children grow up quickly

I know things are different when it's your own children but this "internship" has taught me a lot. My list will grow as our baby grows. Some days I miss the working environment and wonder if there is part time work I can do from home. Until then I feel lucky to have the opportunity to be home with our soon to be little one... counting down the weeks!

  4. Wisdom comes from experience, but only if you are determined to learn from that experience. What I love about you Angela is your appreciation for the ride. The real fun in life is not the celebration of reaching the destination but more the enjoyment of the trip. Life is what happens on the way to your goals. You and Kevin keep celebrating that.

  5. Please tell Jake I say hi, and maybe Harper, but only if she's dry (not her diaper necessarily, just her mouth/hands/arms). Love you!!
