One Year Later

Kevin, John and I went to "Taste of Fort Collins" last night which marks one year in Fort Collins! I can't believe this day last year we had just moved to Fort Collins, unpacking and heading to the Taste, uncertain of what it involved and living in a state with wildfires. I still remember driving into Colorado from Wyoming wide eyed and excited for our year here. We were looking forward to exploring the west and even more excited about getting pregnant. One year later we have explored Fort Collins, Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Breckenridge, and more importantly had John. It never occurred to me that I would become emotionally attached to a city because of our child's birth but I have. A few weeks after John's birth I was driving through the foothills with a few tears in my eyes filled with feelings of happiness; heading back home, to the familiar - close to family and friends and sadness; leaving John's home state, the adventure of living on our own and the scenery that the west offers.  Together, Kevin and I have been living outside Wisconsin all but one year of our relationship and we have enjoyed our adventure, not without sadness of leaving home but we did it and we had fun. We always talked about how great it would be if Kevin was accepted into Madison's residency program, a goal of ours from the beginning. I know Madison will be another adventure for us, one that we are excited to begin and I look forward to bringing John back to Colorado once he's older.

We participated in a 5K Saturday for cystic fibrosis.
A friend's daughter was diagnosed with CF when she was born six months ago.
