No Work All Play

It's not often that we have Kevin home with us all weekend, no morning trips to work, no pager, no phone calls. This last weekend was one of those rare weekends and we took full advantage.

Friday John and Kevin had a "boys" night while I met some friends in Milwaukee for dinner. It was really nice to get out with my girl friends for the night and not worry about John. Kevin was so kind to send a few texts with updates on their night. They too had fun.

Saturday we took John to Toys R Us for one last piece to his train set. My parents gifted John with every thing he needed but we added one more accessory, the light house and glued the whole thing down. We are so glad we did and so is John. While the glue was drying we went to the gym to work out. I had suspended my membership until John was a little older. He did not enjoy the daycare and I could never get a work out in because the daycare was calling me over the loud speaker. Saturday I restarted the membership and brought John to the daycare. He loved it! After picking him up I walked away with watery eyes - I don't think I can take on kindergarten.  When Kevin and I picked John up the teachers told us he was sad twice because he tried to play with older children two separate times and the kids walked away from him. AGH! The sadness a mother feels. I'm sure John had no idea it happened but to hear it made my heart sad.

After the gym we headed to Milwaukee to celebrate Jackie's birthday at La Reve a favorite of hers. What a great evening we had. The kiddo's did wonderful at dinner, the food was outstanding and we all enjoyed the company! Happy birthday Jackie!!!

Sunday we started our morning at the zoo. Kevin had never been so John and I eagerly showed Kevin around. We had fun taking our time looking at all the exhibits and John enjoyed collecting sticks when not being pushed in his stroller.

It was fun weekend and we are fortunate enough to have Kevin home next weekend too - up north here we come!
