Gender Predicting Old Wives' Tales

If you know me well you know I love guessing baby's gender! Even though I know at least one person who has debunked each of these old wives tales I still think it's fun and hey there is no harm in guessing. For John I guessed girl and was obviously wrong so we will see about baby #2.

Carrying High or Low: Rumor has it that if you are carrying high, it's a girl and carrying low it's a boy.
Baby 2: I'm carrying low. Boy

Skin Blemishes: Breakouts mean girl; apparently your daughter steals your beauty.
Baby 2: I haven't had any more blemishes then normal. Boy

Baby Heart Rate: If it's over 140 it's a girl if it's under it's a boy.
Baby 2: My 12 week appointment baby was at 155, though that's over 140 John was always around 155 so I am saying Boy

Craving Sweets: Apparently craving sweets means girl, salty and sour means boy.
Baby 2: With John all I craved was sweets; this baby I've been craving more bland food. ???

Chinese Birth Chart: Based on age and month of conception
Baby 2: Girl

Morning Sickness: If stricken with a queasy stomach during first trimester think pink.
Baby 2: I definitely was under the weather during my first trimester. Girl

Baking Soda Test: In a cup with baking soda pour in your first morning urine. If it foams like beer it's a boy if nothing it's a girl.
Baby 2: Girl

Nub Theory: Essentially a boy's nub is 30 degrees up relative to the backbone and a girl's is below 30 degrees.
Baby 2: I can't tell...

While all of these are fun we will have to wait until May when we meet our baby!

As of now these are ours guesses:

Kevin - Girl
Angela - Boy
John - for the first time didn't cry (victory!) and said Girl

  1. Did you do the baking soda test when you were pregnant with John? And I can't remember what the pencil test predicted for you, do you?

    So fun... ultrasound say... gorgeous!

  2. I didn't know about the baking soda test when I was pregnant with John or I would have done it! The only reason I didn't include the pencil test is because it said John was suppose to be a girl - I got girl, girl, boy, girl. ;)
