Halloween Fail

We talked Halloween up this year; it was the first time John mostly comprehended the idea behind Halloween. He watched a few Halloween themed shows on tv and was all set to goes at Batman. Kevin and I (thank you to our neighbor for providing them) dressed up as Superhero's as well. On Halloween we walked out the door with smiles and as soon as we started to cross the street John freaked out and started tearing up telling us he didn't want to trick or treat, "no trick or treat, no candy!" We decided to plow through and see if we could get him to enjoy it anyway... no such luck five houses later he was still upset and wanted nothing to do with trick or treating. We figured why push it any more so on the walk home we talked up the handing out candy part of Halloween. I even told John all the great costumes he might see which was a HUGE mistake because the very first trick or treater that came to our door was a little boy dressed in all black with a Scream mask. Needless to say John was freaked and ran for the basement before I even opened the screen door. Better luck next year or maybe Halloween just isn't in our cards which is fine too.
